Presently Dr. Himalee serves as a Senior Lecturer for the Institute of Indigenous Medicine (IIM), University of Colombo, Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka. She got her Bachelor ‘s degree from University of Colombo (BAMS, Hons) with a first class upper division.

In 2006, Himalee joined as a Medical Officer In Charge to the North Central Province (NCP), Department of Ayurveda, Ministry of Indigenous Medicine. During this period she rendered her service maximum mainly for the propagation of Ayurveda health services in war-torn areas of NCP. Due to her keen interest in teaching and learning process, she joined as an academic to the IIM in 2008 and completed her Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Ayurveda from Banaras Hindu University, India as a candidate nominated under the Indian Cultural Exchange scholarship in the field of Ayurveda Psychiatry and hold Diploma in Yoga from the same University in 2012. While reading for PhD at Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo, fully committed to the task of disseminating Sri Lankan Traditional Medicine specially strengthening mental health in various dimensions.

She is the first entrepreneur who introduces a Homestay ( “Veludvara”) for Ayurveda Devotees and Nature lovers at Nawala, Rajagiriya, Sri Lanaka to incorporate the her knowledge towards the sustainability of tourism industry.
